Pringle Hired as Athletic Trainer

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that Benjamin Pringle has been hired as the team's athletic trainer. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.

Pringle, 26, joins the Red Claws from the Portland Trailblazers where he was the athletic training intern since 2007. A certified athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist, he has worked with many NBA D-League players during three consecutive NBA summer leagues in Las Vegas, NV, as well as those invited to the Trailblazers training camps. The Salem, MA native holds a bachelor's of science in athletic training from Northeastern University and participated in the co-op and clinical programs at Northeastern, interning at Northeastern University, Babson College, Boston Center for Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, Pro Sports Therapy, UMass-Boston, and with the Boston Celtics. Pringle also worked as a personal trainer at the Marino Recreation Center for three years while at Northeastern.

He has offered his services at several events including the past three years with Nate McMillan's Kids Nike Hoops Camp, 2006 Boston Marathon (medical volunteer), 2007 AST Dew Tour (certified athletic trainer), 2008 and 2009 AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour (certified athletic trainer), 2009 Nike Hoop Summit (head athletic trainer for the Team USA), Portland Timbers U23 PDL soccer team (athletic trainer) and with South Korea's Seoul SK Knights professional basketball team when they held an off-season mini-camp at the Trailblazers' practice facility in 2009 (strength and conditioning coach).

"Ben was a former intern of mine at the Celtics and has worked with the athletic training staff for the Trail Blazers the past two seasons," said Celtics Athletic Trainer, Ed Lacerte. "While Ben interned with us, he gained valuable experience in the athletic training room with me and proved to be a great asset. I am very excited for him in his new position, and I know that he will do a fantastic job for the Red Claws."

Charlotte Bobcats Hosted Tryouts, September 12-13, 2009: The Charlotte Bobcats will host a tryout for their NBA D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, at the Bobcats home arena, Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC. MAINE RED CLAWS: 2009-10 will mark the inaugural season for the Maine Red Claws who will play their home games at the 3,009-seat Portland Expo Building. The team is the NBA D-League affiliate of the Boston Celtics and Charlotte Bobcats. The franchise is owned and operated by Maine Basketball, LLC, which is principally owned by Bill Ryan Sr., the chairman of TD Banknorth Group, and Bill Ryan Jr., owner and operator of Oxford Plains Speedway who serves as the Red Claws' chairman. Jon Jennings, a partner in Maine Basketball, LLC and former Boston Celtics assistant coach, serves as the team's president and general manager.
