Prince George Defeats Kelowna, 2-1

Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Prince George Cougars defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Hat-Trick Wednesday at Prospera Place in Kelowna, kicking off a stretch of three games between the teams.
Both teams came out hard and physicality was a factor throughout.
The Cougars drew first blood and took an early 1-0 lead 56 seconds into the bout. They held that lead for the remainder of the frame and headed into the dressing room up by one.
Seven minutes into the middle frame Tomas Soustal put home a shorthanded marker for the Rockets to tie the game at 1-1.
That goal came off of a nice individual effort by Rockets defenseman Cal Foote after he dumped the puck from his own blue line, beat the defenders to be the first man to retrieve it, and made a skilled pass to the open Soustal who made a quick forehand backhand move and tucked it in the five-hole of Cougars goaltender Ty Edmonds.
With two minutes remaining in the second period the Cougars put themselves back in the lead as Yan Khomenko scored the eventual game winner on Rockets netminder Michael Herringer.
The Rockets outshot the Cougars 33-26 but could not solve Edmonds.
The Rockets get the chance to bounce back this weekend in Prince George as the two teams will play there twice.
It's the start of a five game road trip for the Rockets who will then play in Lethbridge, Edmonton and Red Deer before returning home.
The Rockets next home game is October 14 when the team returns to Prospera Place to play the Saskatoon Blades.
