Prince Albert comes from behind with five unanswered goals

Brandon, MB - Two goals in the opening minute of the third period set the tone for the Prince Albert Raiders as they came from behind to defeat the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-3 on Tuesday night at Westman Place.

After allowing three goals on 17 shots on the first period, the Raiders responded and played an excellent final 40 minutes. Prince Albert took their first lead of the night in the first minute of the third period as Simon Stransky and Tim Vanstone scored 11 seconds apart. The Raiders would add two more goals to secure an important road win.

Brendan Guhle (1g-2a), Stransky (1g-2a), and Jordan Tkatch (3a) each had big nights offensively with three points. Reid Gardiner scored a pair of goals, while Hunter Warner notched two assists. Jesse Lees and Vanstone got the other Prince Albert goals.

The Wheat Kings received three-point efforts from Nolan Patrick (2g-1a) and Jayce Hawryluk (3a). Tyler Coulter also recorded a goal and an assist for two points.

Raiders' netminder Rylan Parenteau kicked out 28 of 31 shots on goal, while Wheat Kings' puck stopper Jordan Papirny turned away 24 of 29 attempts.

The Wheat Kings outshot the Raiders 31-30. Prince Albert and Brandon both went 1-for-3 on the power play.

The Raiders pick up a pivotal two points to move within four points of the Wheat Kings in the East Division standings. Prince Albert now holds a 30-17-5-1 record, while Brandon slips to 34-16-2-2.

Prince Albert concludes their mini two-game road skid on Wednesday night when they face the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Raiders will retire Dave Manson's number "4" in a special pre-game ceremony on Friday, February 12 as part of a weekend celebration honouring the Prince Albert legend. Manson will be the second player in Raiders franchise history to have his number retired, joining Mike Modano's number "9" in the rafters at the Art Hauser Centre. Following his jersey retirement, the Raiders will host the "Roast of Dave Manson" in the Ches Leach Lounge on Saturday, February 13.
