Prince Albert clinches home ice advantage in first round of playoffs

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Saskatoon Blades 6-4 in front of a sold-out crowd of 3299 at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday night.
With the win, the Raiders secured home ice advantage in the first round of the WHL playoffs. They will host Game 1 on Friday, March 25 and Game 2 on Saturday, March 26 against an opponent yet to be determined.
Reid Gardiner led the comeback effort with his first hat trick of the season, while Jesse Lees finished the evening with a goal and three assists for four points. Austin Glover and Simon Stransky both notched a pair of helpers. Kolten Olynek got the tying goal in the third period, while Luke Coleman potted the game-winner.
Wyatt Sloboshan led the Blades with two goals on the night. Connor Gay recorded a goal and one assist for two points, while Cameron Hebig and Dustin Perillat each had two assists. Mason McCarty also scored for the visitors.
Rylan Parenteau started the game for the Raiders but was relieved after stopping nine of 13 shots. Ian Scott took over during the second period and turned away all 10 shots he faced.
Brock Hamm guarded the crease for Saskatoon and kicked out 39 of 45 attempts.
The Raiders outshot the Blades 45-23. Prince Albert went 2-for-5 on the power play, while Saskatoon was 1-for-5.
The Raiders improve their record to 38-25-7-1, while the Blades fall to 25-42-4-0.
The Raiders will close out the 2015-16 WHL regular season on the road on Saturday night versus the Saskatoon Blades. Tickets to Games 1 and 2 of the first round at the Art Hauser Centre will go on sale to the public on Monday at 9:30 AM at the box office and at raiderhockey.com.
