COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Inferno used three unanswered goals to defeat the Pee Dee Pride for the second consecutive game, 3-2, Tuesday night at the Carolina Coliseum.

The Pride got off to a quick start, getting out to a 2-0 lead just over midway through the first half of the opening period.

Jeff Szwez got the scoring started just 1:45 into the game, tucking a shot past Columbia goaltender Mike Minard on the far post. The goal was SzwezÂ’s fourth of the season, all coming in his last three contests.

Darryl Green doubled the Pride lead at 11:32. Gregg JohnsonÂ’s stick broke on the initial shot, and Minard thought he had the puck covered. But, it was still loose in the crease, and Green was in position to slide it past Minard for his second goal of the season, and first since November 7.

But, Columbia tied the game with two goals just 2:03 apart.

DÂ’Arcy McConvey brought the Inferno within one with a power-play goal at 13:05. Pee Dee had several opportunities to clear the zone, but was unable to do so. McConvey was free on the far post, and slid a shot past Nick Boucher for his seventh goal of the season.

Bryson Busniuk tied the score at 15:08 as his blast from the right point got past a screened Boucher for his seventh tally of the year.

It remained 2-2 until the 9:37 mark of the final period. ColumbiaÂ’s Kyle Bruce skated up the right-wing side and let a quick wrist shot go from the right wing circle that beat Boucher to the five-hole.

Pee Dee returns home on Sunday, hosting the Greenville Grrrowl at a special start time of 7:00 p.m. ItÂ’s another Sunday KidÂ’s Day, with 200 and 400 level seats for kids 12 and under just $2.50. KidsÂ’ meals (hot dog, chips, and soda) are available for an additional $2.50.

Tickets for all Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
