Preview: Swope Park Rangers Welcome OKC Energy FC to Swope Soccer Village

The Swope Park Rangers return home this weekend to host OKC Energy FC at Swope Soccer Village on Saturday, June 18. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and the game will be available via live stream on SportingKC.com. Tickets to the game are available here.

Due to the anticipated hot weather on Saturday, fans will be permitted to bring one 20-ounce or smaller sealed water bottle into the stadium. Please note the cap will be removed at the gate.

The Rangers enter the weekend holding a 4-6-2 (14 pts.) record this season after falling 3-2 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Sunday afternoon. SPR found themselves three goals down by the 80th minute following a brace from Marco Bustos and a strike from Alphonso Davies, but the Rangers hit back with goals from Mark Anthony Gonzalez and Kris Tyrpak in the 86th and 88th minutes, respectively. With the last kick of the game, Kevin Oliveira curled a free kick against the inside of the post as the Rangers fell just short of mounting an unlikely comeback.

The Energy are coming off a midweek U.S. Open Cup elimination at the hands of their MLS affiliate, FC Dallas. After playing to a 2-2 tie after 120 minutes of play, OKC fell 6-5 on penalty kicks. In their most recent USL action, OKC suffered their first defeat since their season opener with a 3-0 loss to Rio Grande Valley FC - dropping their record to 4-2-4 (16 pts.).

In the first meeting between SPR and OKC at Taft Stadium on April 23, it was the Energy who claimed all three points thanks to a late header from Kalen Ryden. That result inflicted SPR's first defeat of the season and sparked a three-game losing streak that was halted on May 14 against Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

The Rangers and the Energy will face each other twice more this season, with SPR hosting OKC at Swope Soccer Village on July 12 before concluding the season series at Taft Stadium on Sept. 18. To celebrate Father's Day weekend, the first 500 fans through the gates will receive golf coupons to the Heart of America Golf Course in Swope Park.
