Preview: Storm Look to Even up Season Series with Fargo

Kearney, NE - The Tri-City Storm dropped the opening game of the weekend to Fargo last night at the Viaero Center by a final score of 3-1. The Storm's lone goal was scored on the power play by Connor McMenamin in the 3rd period. Tri-City has now lost three games in a row for the first time this season and will look for a bounce back win against Fargo tonight.

Tri-City (23-12-1-1) enters tonight's game as the 5th place team in the Western Conference and the 6th place team in the USHL league standings. The Storm are only four points out of 1st place, with two games in hand on league leading Waterloo. Last night's matchup with Fargo was the first this season in a four game regular season series. The two teams will play three additional games over the next week. The Storm host the Force for the 2nd night in a row tonight before travelling to Fargo next weekend to wrap up the season series. Tri-City will host rival Omaha on Wednesday night next week. Last night, Connor McMenamin scored his 4th goal of the season for the Storm and Bryan Yoon recorded his 19th assist of the year on the goal. Tri-City outshot and outscored Fargo in the 3rd period but was unable to complete the comeback and fell 3-1. Goalie Filip Larsson recorded the loss in net last night for Tri-City, dropping only his 8th game of the season. Larsson continues to lead the USHL in Goals Against Average (GAA) (1.66), Save Percentage (.940), and Shutouts (6). Larsson made 14 saves on 17 shots in last night's game and was replaced by Jake Barczewski in the 2nd period. Barczewski stopped all 13 Fargo shots in his 28:17 of ice time. Brian Hawkinson will be eligible to return to tonight's lineup after serving a one game suspension last night.

Fargo (21-13-2-4) jumped Tri-City in the Western Conference standings with last night's win. The Force are now 4th in the Western Conference standings and 5th the USHL entering tonight's game. Fargo is tied with Tri-City with 48 points but owns the tiebreaker in the standings. The Storm could pass both Fargo and Team USA with a win tonight. Ryan Bischel picked up the win in net last night for the Force, stopping 18 of 19 Storm shots. Evan Bell, William Fallstrom, and Bartek Bison all scored Fargo's 3-1 win last night at the Viaero Center. Fargo has now won 2 of its last 8 games and improved to 13-5-0-1 in road games in the win.
