New Britain Bees News Release
In 140 Characters or Less: The Bees cross Long Island Sound to take on the Long Island Ducks tonight at Bethpage Park! First pitch 6:35PM!
Series: The Bees and Ducks have not seen each other since late April, when the Bees took two of three games at New Britain Stadium in the second series of the season.
Bees Home Tickets: Available at the New Britain Stadium Box Office | Call 860-826-BEES
The Bees: The Bees are coming off a 4-2 homestand, taking two of three from both the York Revolution and Lancaster Barnstormers. At 16-17, the Bees sit in third in the Liberty Division but are just four games behind the Ducks for the division lead.
The Opposition: The 20-13 Ducks enter tonight's game 6-4 in their ten games, with two series wins (at Somerset, vs. Bridgeport) over their past three series played. Long Island has one of the top offenses in the league, ranking first in the league in hits (318), runs (178), and batting average (.286), and is second in RBIs (157).
Starters
New Britain- RHP Cole Johnson (2-3, 2.25) | Long Island- RHP Bobby Blevins (1-1, 4.69)
Key to the Game- Bounce back start: Cole Johnson struggled for the first time in six starts on the season in his last start, giving up a season high five runs (four earned) in five innings of work against the York Revolution. Johnson has proven to be tough on good offenses this season, so look for the right-hander to get back on track against Long Island.
