Tupelo FireAnts News Release

TUPELO, MS--The National Indoor Football League announced today that FireAnts defensive back Pig Prather was named the Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against the Beaumont Drillers.

Prather, a native of Falkner, Mississippi, recorded 10 unassisted tackles and three assisted tackles in the big FireAnts 47-24 win over the Drillers this past Saturday.

“Pig is a football player with a lot of football savvy,” FireAnts Head Coach Bobby Hall said. “He makes a lot of tackles and brings the lumber when he does.”

In two games played to date with the Ants, Pig leads not only the FireAnts defensive corps, but all NIFL defensive players in total tackles with 22.5 to his credit.

The FireAnts are currently enjoying a bye week, and will return to the turf on Saturday, April 3rd as the team travels to Greenville, SC, to take on the RiverHawks at the Bi-Lo Center. For more information, contact the FireAnts at (662) 620-BITE.
