Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

(Charleston, WV) - The West Virginia Power beat the Charleston RiverDogs 5-3 Wednesday night at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park. Mitchell Tolman hit a two run home run and Dario Agrazal allowed just one run in six innings to lead the Power to a game three win.

After Ryan Nagle led off with single in the first inning, Mitchel Tolman got the offense going for the Power, gulfing a Cody Carroll pitch overtop of the right field wall for his second home run of the year to give the Power a 2-0 lead.

Charleston came back for a run in the bottom half on a solo home run by Connor Spencer.

Agrazal (2-3) settled down after that, scattering six hits and a run through six innings while striking out five, tying a season high. It's the seventh time in his nine starts that Agrazal has allowed two runs or less in a start.

Carroll (2-2) allowed two runs and three hits over six innings.

The Dogs put the tying run on second in the seventh inning, but Tanner Anderson struck out back-to-back hitters to stymie the threat.

The teams traded scoreless frames until the Power half of the eighth. Cole Tucker led off the inning with a triple, and Tito Polo followed with a line drive past the drawn in Charleston infield, to give the Power a 3-1 advantage. After Daniel Arribas was hit by a pitch, Logan Hill picked up his first base hit as a member of the Power, hammering a pitch from Simon De La Rosa into straightaway center for two RBI double to give the Power a 5-1 lead.

The 'Dogs picked up a pair of runs off Anderson in the eighth on a two run triple from Angel Aguilar. However Julio Eusebio set down the side in the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the year and preserve the 5-3 victory.

The Power return home Thursday night to open a seven game home stand beginning with the Columbia Fireflies. Right-hander Mitch Keller gets the start for West Virginia. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 P.M. at Appalachian Power Park.
