Power Play Lifts Sharks over Penguins

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Sharks converted on four consecutive power plays as they skated to a 5-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the DCU Center.
Utilizing a 5-on-4 advantage that carried over from the first period, the Sharks needed only 16 seconds of the middle frame to take a 1-0 lead. Adam Comrie's wrist shot went wide of Penguins net, but caromed off the back wall directly to Marek Viedensky for the put-back goal.
Worcester's special teams unit converted once again to make the score, 2-0, with 3:47 left until the second intermission. A backdoor play set up by Yanni Gourde found Daniil Tarasov alone on the far post for a lift shot over Penguins goalie Jeff Zatkoff.
The Sharks recorded the trifecta on the power play at the 9:20 mark of the third as Comrie fired a slapshot from the point that skimmed low stick side into Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's net.
The Penguins seemingly found some life just over minute later when Warren Peters got a piece of Joe Morrow's slapshot and tipped it by Sharks netminder Harri Sateri for his 10th goal of the season.
It took only 74 seconds for Worcester to regain its three-goal cushion with Bracken Kearns tallying his first of two goals on the night. Kearns added his team's fourth power play tally with 6:16 remaining in the contest to make the final score, 5-1.
Zatkoff falls to 19-18-0 on the season, having made 35 saves on 40 shots. Sateri earned the win for Worcester with 28 saves in the match.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will look to bounce back in the rematch against the Sharks on Friday, March 15 at 7:30 PM at the DCU Center. Tune in on 102.3 The Mountain or AHLLive.com
