Charleston, WV- The West Virginia Power lost 4-1 to the Asheville Tourists on Saturday. The Power have dropped each of the first three games this season heading into Sunday's series finale.

West Virginia gained its' first lead of the season in the home half of the first. Max Moroff walked to lead off the inning, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, and advanced to third on a fly out. Stetson Allie singled on an 0-2 pitch to drive home Moroff and push the Power ahead 1-0.

Asheville even the score in the top of the fourth. Rosell Herrera was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on an errant pickoff attempt. Francisco Sosa drove in Herrera to tie the game at one.

Both starters pitched deep into the game. Power starting pitcher Orlando Castro allowed just the one unearned run over his first six innings while striking out five and walking none. In the seventh, the southpaw struck out Matt Argyropoulos for the first out before allowing back-to-back base hits to end his outing. Kyle Haynes inherited both runners in his first appearance of the season. Julian Yan scored on a wild pitch and Juan Ciriaco brought home Matt Wessinger with a single for a Asheville 3-1 lead.

The Power sent one batter more than the minimum to the plate over the final three innings and could not rally back against Tourists' starter Ben Hughes or the Asheville bullpen.

Castro (0-1) took the loss while Hughes (1-0) gained the win with seven innings of six-hit, one-run ball. Raul Fernandez pitched the ninth for his second save in three days.

Dilson Herrera and Stetson Allie had two hits apiece for the Power in the losing effort.

West Virginia and Asheville conclude the opening series of the season on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 pm. John Kuchno will make his South Atlantic League debut for the Power against Jonathan Vargas, who first pitched in the league for the Tourists during the 2010 season. Sunday's game at Appalachian Power Park is scheduled for a 2:05 pm start.
