Potent Offense Carries Tomahawks to Win

WALPOLE, Mass - A 50-shot performance and a four-goal first period carried the Johnstown Tomahawks to a 6-2 victory over the Northeast Generals Thursday afternoon at the Rodman Ice Arena in Walpole, Mass.
The win improves the Tomahawks' overall record to 10-1-1 on the season.
The Tomahawks fired home the first goal of the game 30 seconds into the first period when Daniil Bokun's slap shot rifled past Generals goalie Gabe Vinal. Hayden Rowan and Tommy Horn helped on Bokun's first goal of the season.
From there, the Tomahawks controlled the momentum and play throughout the first frame.
At 6:02 of the first, Andy Iehle added to the Tomahawks lead with a power play goal when his wrist shot found its way through traffic behind Vinal. Iehle's third of the season was assisted by Rowan and Horn.
Fifty seconds later, Johnstown scored again this time from Joshua Biasillo whose back-hand shot shuffled past Vinal. Biasillo's first NAHL goal was distributed by Adam Pilewicz and Joe Kile.
Johnstown ended a high-scoring first period with a power-play goal from Rowan, his third on the year. Horn picked up his third assist of the game along with Andrew Quetell.
During the intermission, Northeast pulled Vinal in favor of David Fessenden
The Tomahawks maintained the momentum and pressure in the second period as they cashed in for the fifth goal of the game.
Riley Doyon snapped home a goal that solved Fessenden seven minutes into the middle period. Mitch Hale and Biasillo picked up the helpers.
Northeast cracked the zero on its side of the scoreboard at 15:23 of the second period with a goal from Colin Bilek.
The Tomahawks answered the goal back at 5:42 of the third period. Joe Kile scored a nifty goal on the breakaway to give Johnstown a 6-1 lead.
Generals forward Cam Smith set the final at 6-2 with a goal of his own later in the third period.
Drew Hotte picked up his third win on the season to bring his record to 3-0-1. He made 20 saves in the win.
Fessenden registered the loss in relief of Vinal. He made 32 saves out of 34 Tomahawks shots.
Johnstown and Northeast renew acquaintances Friday, Oct. 21 at the Rodman Ice Arena in Walpole, Mass., for a 1 p.m. faceoff.
The Tomahawks return to the Cambria County War Memorial Arena for their home opener on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. against the Aston Rebels.
November 11 is Military Appreciation Night where the Tomahawks will honor those who have served with free tickets for military veterans and active duty personnel. Additionally, the Tomahawks will wear specialty military-style jerseys.
