Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, Maine - The Portland Pirates, American Hockey League affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes, clinched a spot in the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs on Friday by virtue of a 3-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

This is the 15th time that the Pirates have made the Calder Cup playoffs during their 20 year history in Portland, and first time since the 2010-11 season. It is also the first time a team affiliated with the Phoenix Coyotes has made the playoffs since the San Antonio Rampage reached the Western Conference Quarterfinals in 2008. The 2013 Calder Cup playoffs will start the week of April 22, with schedules to be announced. The Pirates will play all home playoff games at the Cumberland County Civic Center, with at least 1 game of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals to be played at the Civic Center.
