Everett Silvertips News Release

PORTLAND - Adin Hill delivered 44 saves and Keoni Texeira's late second period goal stood as the game winner to help the Portland Winterhawks hold off the Everett Silvertips, 3-2 before 6,236 fans at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in WHL action on Friday.

The second straight loss for the Silvertips dropped them to 3-5-0-0 in eight games this season against Portland. Jake Christiansen, a natural defenseman, played up front and earned his fourth goal of the season while Carson Stadnyk pushed his goal-scoring streak to three straight games.

Everett fired 46 shots on net, a season high.

Alex Overhardt, earning a multi point game, put the Winterhawks up 1-0 at 5:41 on a one-timer through Carter Hart's five-hole that was set up by Colton Veloso's set up from the left wing.

Christiansen leveled the game, 1-1 at 2:26 of the second period when he crashed the net and converted Devon Skoleski's feed from the left side. From there, the Silvertips were able sustain the tie for several minutes but a lengthy shift in their own zone put Portland ahead, 2-1 on a Rodrigo Abols deflection at 8:55.

Portland then capitalized off a face-off win in the offensive zone, lining up Keoni Texeira's blast from the blueline with 35 seconds left in the second period for his seventh goal of the season and 3-1 advantage.

Hart, yielding three goals in 21 shots, was lifted for backup Mario Petit to begin the third period and the Silvertips responded with a resounding effort and 19 shots, two off their season high for one period.

After spending their timeout with over four minutes remaining in regulation, they pulled Petit for a sixth attacker with over two minutes to play. Matt Fonteyne snuck out of a scrum along the right boards and whipped a pass to Brycen Martin, stationed at the blueline. Martin's drive deflected off Stadnyk and past Hill with 1:47 left in regulation, cutting the Portland lead to 3-2.

The Silvertips came back looking for the dramatic game-tying goal and buzzed the Portland net with three quality chances, but Portland burned the clock to preserve the one goal win.
