Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 4-0 on Saturday night at Prospera Place.
Leif Mattson(22) got Kelowna on the board first at 13:28 of the opening frame finishing off a tic-tac-toe passing play from Dillon Dube and Carsen Twarynski. Gordie Ballhorn(5) extended the Rockets lead to 2-0 scoring on a long shot from the point just a minute later. Kelowna carried a two goal lead into the second period.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second period.
Mattson(23) scored his second of the evening midway through the final frame freezing Kamloops goaltender Max Palaga with a shot fake before sliding the puck through his five-hole to make it 3-0. The goal came shorthanded, and was Kelowna's 15th shorthanded marker of the season. Just over a minute later Dillon Dube made it a 4-0 game tipping home his 34th. That would be it for scoring as the Rockets take it 4-0.
James Porter's record improves to 20-9-4-1 after stopping all 18 shots he faced. The Rockets outshot the Blazers 31-18.
Kelowna's record improves to 40-22-5-2. With the win the Rockets finish their season series against the Blazers with a record of 8-0-0-0.
The Rockets enjoyed multi-point evenings from Leif Mattson(2G), Gordie Ballhorn(1G, 1A), and Dillon Dube(1G, 1A).
