WEEK IN REVIEW

Tuesday, February 26th : Portland 6, Providence 3

The Pirates soundly defeated the Bruins on Tuesday night to tie the Atlantic Division leaders in the standings. Chris Brown and Jordan Martinook each scored twice for Portland while Louis Domingue picked up his first AHL win.

Saturday, March 2nd : Worcester 2, Portland 1 (SO)

Portland put 38 shots on Worcester starter Harri Sateri, but the Sharks were able to eke out a 2-1 victory in a shootout. Phil Lane had the lone Pirates goal in regulation, while Chad Johnson stopped 31 of 32 shots in his return from injury.

Sunday, March 3rd : at Providence 7, Portland 1

The Pirates faltered in Providence, dropping a 7-1 decision to fall 4 points back of the division leading Bruins on Sunday. Jordan Martinook scored his 4th goal against Providence this year for the lone Pirates tally.

THIS COMING WEEK

Tuesday, March 5th at Connecticut (7:00 PM)

The Pirates will finish their 2 game road trip when they travel to Hartford to face the Whale. Puck drop is set for 7 from the XL Center. Portland has lost their last 3 games against Connecticut after winning the first 3 contests between the two.

Friday, March 8th vs. Manchester (7:00 PM)

The Pirates will have a chance to clinch at least a tie for the first ever VIP Cup, presented by VIP Parts, Tires & Service, when they face the Manchester Monarchs on Friday night. Puck drop is set for 7. Portland holds a 5-4 advantage in the season long VIP Cup Series.

Saturday, March 9th vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (7:00 PM)

The Pirates will host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the first time this season on Hall of Fame night, presented by Unum. Pirates forward Jeff Nelson will become the 17th member of the Pirates Hall of Fame during the game.

Practice will be held at the Cumberland County Civic Center at 10:30 AM on Thursday and is open to the public.

SALTY PETE'S PIRATES OF THE WEEK

1.

Jordan Martinook scored three goals and added an assist this week, with all 3 goals coming against Providence. Martinook is on a 3 game point streak.

2. Louis Domingue stopped 32 of 35 shots for his first AHL win on Tuesday against Providence.
