Pigs Host RailRiders in Two-Game Set

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will open a two-game set with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park at 7:05 p.m. The Pigs enter play at 13-12 on the season after dropping two of three against Pawtucket earlier this week. Scranton sits at 14-13 on the year after taking two of three from Buffalo. The two teams are tied for second place in the IL North Division and the RailRiders currently lead the IronRail Series, 2-1.

RHP Mark Appel (3-0, 1.64) gets the ball for manager Dave Brundage's squad on Thursday. Appel got a no-decision on Friday vs. Buffalo when he gave up one run on four hits while walking four and fanning three in 5.1 IP. Over his four starts, the Stanford product has held opponents to a .143 average (2-14) with runners in scoring position.

LHP Richard Bleier (0-0, 3.38) toes the rubber for the RailRiders in the series opener. The southpaw got a no-decision on Saturday at Rochester after surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits while walking one and fanning one in 4.0 IP. Bleier spent part of 2015 with Syracuse and was 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA in four starts against the IronPigs.
