NASHVILLE, TN (July 15, 2015) - Voted upon by opposing coaches and league officials, the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce the 2015 Defensive Player of the Year award.

Defensive Player of the Year: LB Jerome Hayes (Freedom)

Leading the Freedom to within one game of reaching the post-season for the second consecutive season, LB Jerome Hayes (6'2 250, Penn State) earned the 2015 Defensive Player of the Year award finishing with eleven sacks including 12.5 tackles for a loss all Trenton team highs.

The first linebacker to win the Defensive Player of Year award in league history, Hayes and company finished with the PIFL's top overall defense holding opponents to a league-low 239 yards per game as well as a league-high 47 sacks with Hayes finishing second overall with 11 landing him on the All-PIFL 1st Team.

In addition, he registered 19.5 tackles, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries evening earning the Week 1 Player of the Week award for his three-sack performance in the opening win over Richmond.

Honorable Mention: DL Walter Thomas (Venom), DL Larry Ford (Steelhawks)

Previous Winners: DL Devin Jones (2014), DB Anthony Shutt (2013), DB Damian Daniels (2012).
