Piasa Drop Home Opener

November 6, 2012 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) - Illinois Piasa News Release

On Saturday night, the Illinois Piasa hosted the Detroit Waza in the Home Opener at the Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, IL. An enthusiastic crowd of 515 showed up for the Piasa's first game of the season, eager to see how this team looked. Unfortunately the Piasa lost to the Waza, 11-5. But there was still plenty of action, a look at a few new players and a few shining moments that should make for a promising season.

The Piasa took the field dressed in Admiral Pink Jerseys which would later be auctioned off in a silent auction to support Breast Cancer Research. The team had a hard time connecting in the first half and by halftime they were down 7-2 to the Waza. The first half goals for the Piasa came from Jesse Elmore and Roger Gemoules.

The third quarter was much of the same for the Piasa and the Waza added 3 goals to take an impressive 10-2 lead.

Finally, the Piasa caught on in the 4th quarter as Jesse Elmore added 2 goals for the hat trick and Victor Pacheco added 1 himself. But the Piasa couldn't muster anymore in their rally and the game ended 11-5. Justin Judiscak assisted on 3 of the Piasa's goals.

The Piasa will remain home for their next game, this Friday night versus Rockford Rampage, a franchise new to the PASL. Game time is slated for 7:35pm start and the night will be "Glen-Ed Night", as the Piasa are joined by teams, and their families and friends, from Glen-Ed Soccer Club.

Also, the Piasa has partnered with the St. Louis Area Foodbank for this event. Bring a canned good to the game and receive $2.00 OFF General Admission. The St. Louis Area Foodbank began its service to the community in 1975.
