Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN -The Johnstown Tomahawks and the North American Hockey League announced today that goaltender Kade Phipps was named the Bauer East Division Star of the Week for the week ending January 28, 2018.

Phipps saved 61 of 63 shots on goal in a weekend sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on the road. The Perrysburg, Ohio native has earned a 9-6-0 record on the season so far.

"Kade was a big part of our weekend sweep on the road against a really good Wilkes-Barre team," head coach Mike Letizia said. "Both scores were 2-1 and in each night the only goal he allowed came with the Knights having a man advantage- one with an extra attacker late on Friday, and a PP goal on Saturday. Besides the two goals he was perfect in net for us. He has continued to provide us with solid, consistent goaltending and we will look to him to be a major contributor of more success for our team moving forward."

The Tomahawk are off this week but will return to action on Friday, Feb. 9 when the team travels to Alaska to take on the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Puck drop is set for 11:30 p.m. EST.

The team returns to 1ST SUMMIT ARENA for a weekend series with the Knights on Feb. 23-24.

Friday, Feb.23 is Faith and Family Night presented by Laurel Highlands Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Celebrate your faith with friends, family, and hockey fans. The team will wear special jerseys during warmups. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, it's Guns & Hoses VI presented by the Tax Lady and Advance Office Systems. The battle of the badges continues into its sixth season as Police and Firefighters compete to benefit the Special Olympics. The Charity game starts at 4:30 p.m. Face-off against the Knights is set for 7 p.m.

Tickets are still available for both games and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com - calling Ticketmaster directly at 1-800-745-3000, or visiting 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial box office.
