On Thursday afternoon, Hockey Canada added three players to the roster for the 2018 Sport Chek World Junior Showcase, July 28-Aug. 4 in Kamloops, B.C., including Owen Sound Attack's Markus Phillips.

Phillips scored 10 goals and 29 assists in 68 games played in the 2017-18 season, following a 43-point season in 2016-17.

The native of Vaughan, Ontario previously captained Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. He also captained Team Canada Red at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey challenge, and represented Canada at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship.

"It's really no surprise that Hockey Canada has recognized Markus as a top prospect for the World Juniors team," said Attack General Manager Dale DeGray.

"He has shown his growth as a player and I am confident Markus will represent the community and Attack organization well."

Phillips was selected in the fourth round, 118th overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings.
