Phillies Acquire Saltdogs Center Fielder
LINCOLN, Neb. * The Lincoln Saltdogs announced today that they have sold the contract of outfielder Evan Tartaglia to the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Tartaglia will report to the Phillies spring training camp in Clearwater, Florida.
Tartaglia played terrific baseball for the Saltdogs in 2006. In 55 games with Lincoln, he had a batting average of .352 with 23 RBI, 67 runs scored, seven triples, and 32 stolen bases. Tartaglia finished the season first in the league with 45 stolen bases, second with 8 triples, and 8th with a .335 batting average.
Tartaglia will begin his 4th year of professional baseball in 2007. Originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox organization in the 35th round of the 2004 draft, he has played in Bristol, Great Falls, Kannapolis and Winston-Salem with the Sox.
The Lincoln Saltdogs, members of the American Association of Independent League Professional Baseball, will begin their seventh season of professional baseball on May 10, 2007 in Pensacola.
