Philippoussis and Fish Added to WTT Smash Hits Field

New York, N.Y. --- Mark Philippoussis and Mardy Fish have joined the all-star field for the 2016 World TeamTennis Smash Hits event set for Monday, October 10, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The one-night event, co-hosted by Sir Elton John and Billie Jean King, raises funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Philippoussis and Fish are the latest additions to a lineup that already includes John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Andy Roddick and Lindsay Davenport. Additional players will be announced in the coming weeks.

Since 1993, WTT Smash Hits has raised more than $14 million for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and local AIDS charities. Caesars Palace, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is also home to Elton John's hit show, "The Million Dollar Piano."

All seating will be reserved and have chairbacks. VIP seats, which include admission to the pre-match VIP Reception and Live Auction, are $545. Fish, who reached a career high world ranking of No. 7 in singles and No. 14 in doubles on the ATP Tour, returns for his second consecutive WTT Smash Hits. During his pro career, the American won six singles and eight doubles titles on the ATP Tour and also captured the silver medal in singles at the Athens Olympic Games. Fish is also a pro ambassador for Athlete Ally, a nonprofit organization designed to foster inclusive sports communities.

Philippoussis won 11 singles titles on the ATP Tour, reaching a career high ranking of No. 8. Noted for his powerful serve, Philippoussis led Australia to Davis Cup titles in 1999 and 2003. He was a singles finalist at both Wimbledon and the US Open, dropping the championship matches to Pat Rafter and Roger Federer. This is Philippoussis' second time to participate in WTT Smash Hits, having previously played in 2010.

The evening begins with a pre-match VIP Reception and Auction at 5:00 p.m. at Caesars Palace with the match start set for 7 p.m. on a specially-constructed tennis court in the valet parking lot adjacent to Caesars Palace Drive. A limited number of special VIP ticket packages, including VIP courtside seating and admission to the VIP Reception and Auction, are available for $545. John, King and all players will participate in the pre-match live auction, which will include an Elton John signed piano bench and King's Wimbledon tickets, among other items.

Captained by King and John, the players will form two teams and play a WTT match featuring singles and doubles action. The music legend is expected to participate in a celebrity doubles match to open the event. Last year, Team Elton took a 12-11 edge in the overall series with a 17-11 win over Team Billie Jean.
