Philadelphia Union News Release
Denver, Colo. (March 9, 2013) - Major League Soccer has moved the Colorado Rapids vs. Philadelphia Union match to Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. ET (1 p.m. MT) because of severe weather conditions in the Denver area today. Altitude and TCN Philadelphia will broadcast tomorrow's game live, as will MLS Live. Univision Deportes Network (UDN) will show the game at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday.
A blizzard warning has been issued for Adams County, Colo., which includes Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, and a travel advisory has asked people in the area to travel only in the case of emergency. Snow began falling at approximately 5 a.m. MT today and snow accumulations in the Denver area are predicted to reach 8-14 inches, with winds of 15 to 30 m.p.h. and gusts up to 40 m.p.h. creating low visibility, drifting snow, and hazardous road conditions.
"As always, the safety of our fans, teams, and staff are paramount," said Nelson Rodriguez, MLS Executive Vice President of Competition and Game Operations, who is in Colorado for the match. "We would like to thank both clubs for working with us to plan accordingly and we look forward to their match on Sunday at 1 p.m. local time."
