Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - After falling short in a pair hard-fought games on home-ice last weekend against the Green Bay Gamblers, the Youngstown Phantoms got a boost Monday with the return of leading scorers Austin Cangelosi and JT Stenglein. With the pair back in the fold, the Phantoms (5-11-0, 10 points) will look to reverse their fortunes this Saturday on the banks of Lake Michigan when they take on the upstart Muskegon Lumberjacks.

The Week In Review

Game No. 15: Anas Nets 2 Late, But Can't Lead Phantoms Against Gamblers

Despite a frantic third-period push, the Phantoms could not complete the comeback Saturday night at the Covelli Centre, falling 5-2 to the Gamblers (6-8-2, 14 points). The Phantoms outshot the Gamblers 17-6 in the third, but were unable to dig out of a three-goal hole late in the period. Sam Anas scored both the Phantoms' goals - both coming within the final nine minutes of regulation - to lead the late flurry against the Green Bay. In net, goaltender Patrick Spano was steady turning away 25 of 29 shots, but was saddled with the loss.

Game No. 16: Stork Scores Twice, But Phantoms Fall Short Against Gamblers

The Phantoms' string of bad luck continued Sunday at the Covelli Centre as they fell 3-2 to the Gamblers. Luke Stork brought the Phantoms even with the Gamblers twice, but Green Bay got a late power-play goal from Ben Gallacher to come away with the win. Goaltender Sean Romeo was stellar in net for Youngstown turning away 33 of 36 shots in the losing effort. Meanwhile, his counterpart Michael Rotolo allowed just two goals on 31 shots to record his third straight win over the Phantoms.

Loose Pucks

Stenglein scored the game-winning goal in the final, while Cangelosi finished tied for second in the tournament in scoring with two goals, five assists and seven points in four games.
