Youngstown Phantoms News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Phantoms have announced their opening day roster for the 2018-2019 season. The roster is comprised of two goaltenders, eight defensemen, and fifteen forwards. Returning to the team are eight members of the Eastern Conference Champion team. Seventeen new players come to Youngstown as the quest for the Clark Cup begins this Thursday at the USHL Fall Classic. The full 2018-2019 roster can be found below.
Leading into the start of the season, the Phantoms made one trade acquiring goaltender Justin Evenson from the Tri-City Storm in exchange for a conditional 2020 9th Round Phase II draft pick. Evenson comes to Youngstown with a year of junior experience with the Brockville Braves in the CCHL and hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 6'1 netminder was the Storm's 15th round draft selection back in May during the USHL Phase II Draft (234th overall).
The USHL's 2018 Fall Classic event will take place in Cranberry, Pennsylvania for two regular season games against USHL opponents - the Tri-City Storm on Thursday September 27th at 5:00pm and the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Sunday September 30th at 1:00pm.
The Phantoms' home opener will be Friday, October 5th at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown. Puck drop will be at 7:05 p.m. against divisional rival the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
The Phantoms will host a media day on Wednesday, October 3, at 12:30pm. in the Covelli Centre's YSU Room. All members of the media are invited to meet this year's players, coaching staff, and front office.
