November 15, 2012 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Youngstown Phantoms
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Phantoms and 21 WFMJ are partnering to raise food donations for the Mahoning Valley's less fortunate this Holiday Season. The Phantoms will hold a food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank ahead of their game Friday, Nov. 23 vs. the Team USA as part of WFMJ's "Project: Feed Our Valley" initiative, the club announced today.
The Phantoms will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items at the Covelli Centre box office in the days leading up to the "Black Friday" Food Drive, and Second Harvest Food Bank will be on-hand beginning at 6 p.m. the night of the game to collect all of the donations.
Fans who donate two or more non-perishable food items will receive a $6 ticket voucher that can be redeemed for a purple or green level ticket to the Nov. 23 game - a savings of up to $9. The game time is set for 7:15 p.m. EST.
The Covelli Centre box office will be open to accept food donations and exchange ticket vouchers from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 through Wednesday, Nov. 21. The box office will be closed for Thanksgiving, but re-open Friday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. for donations ahead of the food drive. For more information, call 330.747.7825.
"Project: Feed Our Valley" is a campaign to educate people about hunger in our community and raise vital donations of food and money for Second Harvest Food Bank. Since the launch of "Project: Feed Our Valley" in 2007, the Food Bank has gone from feeding more than 7,000 people a week in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, to feeding more than 14,000. But, our Valley has responded to the need by donating almost $290,000 and nearly 330,000 pounds of food in that time.
Season tickets for the 2012-13 season are on sale now starting at the low price of just $7 a game.
