Petricek, Hewerton Named to MASL Team of the Week

Cedar Rapids Rampage News Release

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - January 4, 2017 - For the second straight time, Cedar Rapids Rampage goalkeeper Brett Petricek was named to the Major Arena Soccer League Team of the Week. Player/Head Coach Hewerton Moreira was also selected to the league's top six. Due to holiday scheduling, this week's awards combine Weeks 9 and 10.

Petricek was credited with 15 saves in the Rampage's 13-2 win over the Florida Tropics on New Year's Eve. It was his and the team's seventh straight win and tied a franchise record for fewest goals allowed in a game.

The Rampage also set a new team record for goals scored in a game with 13, thanks in large part to Hewerton's four goals and three assists.

Jonatan Santos, who had two goals and two assists in the game, was among the players receiving an Honorable Mention nod.

So far this year Gordy Gurson has been named to the Team of the Week four times, Petricek twice, and Hewerton and Santos once each. Petricek also has two Honorable Mentions and Santos has one.

The Rampage will be home this Friday, January 6 to host the Chicago Mustangs at 7:05pm. Tickets are on sale now starting at just $9 and can be purchased from Ticketmaster.com or at the U.S. Cellular Center box office.
