Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Jose, CA - The Quakes ripped off their third straight win on Wednesday night, getting four runs-batted-in from DJ Peters and five no-hit innings from a rehabbing Rich Hill, in an 8-2 win over the San Jose Giants.

Hill, making his second rehab start for the Quakes in the last six days, allowed three walks and hit two batters, but had San Jose off-balance for his five hitless frames, as he left the game with the Quakes up 7-0.

Rancho scored in each of Hill's five innings. Peters, who finished with three hits, put the Quakes on the board in the first with a two-run single.

Logan Landon's RBI groundout scored Omar Estevez in the second, making it a 3-0 game.

Estevez, who also had three of Rancho's 12 hits, knocked in Will Smith with an RBI hit in the fourth, giving the Quakes a 5-0 advantage over Giants' starter Connor Menez (2-1).

Brandon Montgomery's two-run double off Giants' reliever Carlos Diaz built the Rancho lead to 7-0 in the fifth.

Hill (1-1) gave way to Yadier Alvarez after five no-hit innings and 68 pitches. Alvarez was greeted in the sixth by rehabbing San Francisco Giant Denard Span, who laced the first pitch he saw into left field to break up the no-hit bid. Alvarez lost the shutout in the seventh, as he gave up a two-run single to Ryan Howard, making it a 7-2 affair.

The Quakes got a run back in the eighth and closed the scoring, as DJ Peters completed his four-RBI game with an infield hit, bringing home Landon to make it 8-2.

Alvarez finished the night by retiring seven of the final eight hitters he would face, giving him his first professional save.

The Quakes (18-15) still have a two-game lead over Lake Elsinore (16-17) in the South Division. Rancho looks for a four-game winning streak and a three-game sweep over the Giants on Thursday night, as they send Caleb Ferguson (1-1) to the hill, opposite Giants' starter Mike Connolly (2-3), with game time slated for 7:00pm.

The Quakes return from this seven-game road trip on Tuesday, May 16th, as they host the Lake Elsinore Storm as part of a seven-game home stand. Tuesday will be another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans will get fans a free Club Seat Ticket to the game. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
