SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that the club has re-signed SS Noah Perio Jr to a 2016 American Association contract. The upcoming season will be Perio's 8th season in professional baseball and 2nd season as a member of the X's. Perio's signing marks the first player set to return to the X's from their 2015 record breaking season that saw the Explorers set a new American Association record for most wins in a season with 75 in route to being Central Division Champions.

Perio was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 39th round in the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft from De La Salle High School in Concord, California. Perio spent six seasons in the Marlins organization (2009-2014) reaching as high as Double-A in 2013. Perio's best statistical season in the Marlins organization came in 2011 as a member of the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League where he hit .295 while collecting 144 hits with 30 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs, scoring 76 runs, and accumulating 52 RBI's. For his efforts, Perio was listed as the #8 prospect in the Marlins organization in 2011 according to Baseball America. For his 6 year career with the Marlins, Perio played in 497 games, collecting 474 hits, recording 85 doubles and 187 RBI's, to go along with his .260 batting average.

In his first year with the X's in 2015, the Discovery Bay, CA native turned in an outstanding season in which he played in all 100 games and led the team in hits (129), doubles (29), and RBI's (74). The 129 hit season was also tops in the entire American Association while his 29 doubles was the 2nd highest in the league. Perio also clubbed 7 home runs which were good for 2nd on the team, while adding 4 triples, 61 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases to go with an impressive .316 batting average. Perio's hot hitting continued into the 2015 American Association Playoffs where he posted a .300 batting average and led the team with 7 RBI's during the X's 8 post-season games. For his efforts, Perio was named to the 2015 postseason American Association All-Star Team.
