Peoria Chiefs News Release

PEORIA, IL - The Peoria Chiefs used a pair of long balls to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in a pitchers' duel on Monday night. Former Timber Rattlers pitcher Austin Bibens-Dirkx tossed a complete game for the Chiefs. Daniel Meadows scattered twelve hits over eight innings for Wisconsin, but gave up two solo homers to take the loss.

Ryan Flaherty gave the Chiefs (54-46 overall, 15-15 second half) a 1-0 lead with a one out homer in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the second, Wisconsin's defense threw out a pair of runners at the plate to keep the deficit at one run.

That allowed Erik Komatsu to hit a two-out solo homer to right in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game.

Ridling untied the game for the Chiefs. He led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a towering flyball down the left field line that cleared the wall at the 310' mark for his twelfth homer of the season. Ridling went 4-for-4 on the night, but this hit was the biggest.

The Rattlers (47-52, 13-16) got one runner on base after the homer by Ridling. Brett Lawrie singled with one out in the ninth. But, Bibens-Dirkx got the complete game victory by getting Corey Kemp to ground into a game-ending double play.

Bibens-Dirkx struck out seven and did not walk a batter. Meadows struck out four without walking a batter in his first professional complete game.

Wisconsin has lost 10 of their last 12 games.

The Timber Rattlers continue their road trip with a series at Fort Wayne against the TinCaps. Wily Peralta (3-2, 3.55) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Fort Wayne counters with Simon Castro (6-4, 3.65). Game time is 6:05pm CDT.
