Penguins Release Barton and Crowder from PTOs

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forwards Chris Barton and Paul Crowder have been released from their professional tryout agreements (PTO).

Both players were pointless in two appearances with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Crowder, 27, has registered 31 points (15G-16A) and 20 penalty minutes in 34 games for the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. The Victoria, BC-native currently leads the team in goals (15) and points (31). The Nailers acquired Crowder from the Utah Grizzlies on March 1, 2011.

Barton, 25, was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team last season as he ranked first on the team with 29 goals and 60 points over 69 games. He also added 31 assists - the second-highest total on the squad. This season, Barton has compiled nine goals and six assists in 15 games with Wheeling.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins take the ice versus the Hershey Bears at Hersheypark Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 5:00PM for the 2013 Capital BlueCross AHL Outdoor Classic.
