Pelicans Smash Muddies in Front of Sold out Crowd

Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (77-61, 37-32), Class-A Advanced affiliates of the Texas Rangers, treated a sold out crowd to a second straight win, beating the Carolina Mudcats 9-3 Sunday at TicketReturn.com Field. The sellout (6,599) is the team's fourth capacity crowd of the season. The Pelicans will try to sweep the Mudcats in the regular season finale tomorrow night.
Drew Robinson totaled four hits in the game and has tallied six in the first two games of the series. He charged an offense that mustered 15 total hits in the game.
Josh McElwee (3-2) earned the win, firing three scoreless innings out of the bullpen with three strikeouts. Shawn Morimando (8-13) was hit with the loss, surrendering seven earned runs on six hits over two innings.
The Pelicans sent all nine men to the plate and scored five runs in the opening inning to take a lead they would not relinquish. Hanser Alberto capped the outburst with a two-run double. Trever Adams had a sacrifice fly in the inning and Royce Bolinger added an RBI single.
Bolinger finished 2-for-4 and added a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Adams finished with three RBIs on the night, contributing an RBI single in the second and eighth innings.
The Pelicans thrived with runners in scoring position on the night, going 6-for-14 in such situations.
Michael Zouzalik worked three innings out the bullpen, allowing one earned run on three hits. Nick McBride went the first two innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits. Ryan Harvey got the final three outs in a non-save situation.
The Pelicans and Mudcats wrap up the regular season Monday at TicketReturn.com Field. Right-hander Kevin Pucetas (1-2, 5.26) will be opposed by Joe Colon (4-3, 3.38).
