February 24, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

LAST WEEK: After dropping three straight games to begin the week, Pee Dee salvaged two points with a shootout win over Greenville on Sunday. The Pride enter this week in fourth place in the Southeast Division with a 31-21-5 record for 67 points. They trail third-place South Carolina by two points, second-place Florida by five and are 10 points in back of division-leading Columbia.

Tuesday, February 18 @ South Carolina Stingrays 3 PRIDE 1

Pee Dee fell behind early, and could not recover. South Carolina scored twice in the first 5:22 of the first period, and added a third goal 3:45 into the second. After that, the Pride dominated in shots on goal, but Stingrays’ netminder Kirk Daubenspeck turned aside 33 of 34 Pride shots for the win. Only a Matt Reid goal at the 13:05 mark of the third period spoiled his shutout bid.

Friday, February 21 @ Richmond Renegades 4 PRIDE 1 Lars Pettersen opened the scoring for Richmond just 55 seconds in, the third straight game the Pride allowed a goal in the opening minute of play. The Pride tied it before the end of the period on a power-play goal by Allan Sirois. Pettersen struck again 12:05 into the second, and then Richard Pittiri scored a back-breaking, shorthanded goal early in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Saturday, February 22 @ Roanoke Express 3 PRIDE 1

It was “Saturday Night Fights” in Roanoke as the Pride and Express combined for 246 penalty minutes in a game that featured five line brawls, eight 10-minute misconducts and four game misconducts. Trailing 2-0 late in the third period, Preston Mizzi tallied on the power play, making it 2-1 with 1:26 left. But a Dan Carlson empty-net goal, his second score of the night, set the final.

Sunday, February 23 v. Greenville PRIDE 7 Grrrowl 6 (SO)

A pair of goals by Wes Goldie in the opening 4:49 of the first period gave the Pride an early two-goal lead. But, Greenville came back with the next four goals, three of them by Chris Lynch, to take a 4-2 lead. Ryan Petz scored his first goal since coming out of retirement late in the second period, making it 4-3 Grrrowl after two. Matt Reid tied for the Pride with a marker at the 3:41 mark of the third. Greenville went back up by two on goals by Rico Fatticci and Martin Masa just 1:03 apart. Again, the Pride came back, as Mike Glumac and Goldie scored 1:48 apart to tie it at 6. It was Goldie’s first hat trick of the season, and the Pride’s second as a team. After a scoreless overtime, the game went to a shootout. Matt Underhill turned aside four of five Greenville shooters, and it was Goldie scoring the deciding goal on the Pride’s fourth shot to end Pee Dee’s three-game losing streak.
