PawSox Top Gwinnet 5-3

Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Back at home for the first time in nine days, the Pawtucket Red Sox picked up where they left off in the middle of their just-completed road trip on Tuesday, winning their fifth straight meeting with the Gwinnett Braves, 5-3, before 5,234 at McCoy Stadium.
The PawSox swept a four-game series at Gwinnett last week on the first half of a 6-2, two-city swing into the International League's South Division.
They staked right-hander Allen Webster to an early lead, as Justin Henry led off the bottom of the first with a double, stole third base and scored on a sacrifice fly by Drew Sutton. Pawtucket increased its lead to 3-0 in the second inning, when Jonathan Diaz drove in a run with the first of his two doubles and Brock Holt produced an RBI grounder.
Webster (W, 2-0), making his first start since returning from his second call-up to Boston this season, was victimized by Brandon Boggs's solo homer in the fourth. But Webster minimized the damage, despite four walks and a hit batsman in 5.0-plus innings pitched.
Ahead 3-1, the PawSox added to their lead with an RBI single by Bryce Brentz to score Henry, who went 3-for-4.
Gwinnett drew within 4-3 in the top of the seventh when Pedro Beato, in his second inning of work, surrendered a two-run single by Jason Heyward, on an injury-rehab assignment for the Atlanta Braves.
But Brentz came through with his second run-producing single in the next half inning to complete the scoring.
Anthony Carter (S, 5) closed out the ninth, converting his fifth save opportunity and sealing the PawSox's seventh win in nine games. Meanwhile, the Braves lost for the 15th time in their last 17 contests.
The second game of the series and homestand is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:05. Pawtucket is scheduled to start knuckleballer Steven Wright (2-1, 2.57) against Tim Corcoran (1-3, 3.48).
