Pats Wrap Busy Week against Saskatoon

The Regina Pats (21-2-5-0) play their sixth game in eight nights Saturday against the Saskatoon Blades (11-18-2-0). Puck drop is at 7 p.m. from the Brandt Centre. The Pats won big on home ice Friday, 8-1 over the Swift Current Broncos and are 5-0-2-0 in their last seven contests. The Blades have been off since Wednesday when they lost at home to the Calgary Hitmen 4-3. Tonight is the second of six meetings between the Pats and Blades. Regina is 1-0-0-0 in the season series. The game can be heard on 620 CKRM with Bennett Dunlop Ford Pats Hockey beginning at 6:35 p.m.

Lead Up: Dawson Leedahl Paces Pats Past Broncos Friday
Dawson Leedahl scored twice and had five points to lead the Pats to an 8-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday night at the Brandt Centre. Riley Woods started the night off on the right foot with the teddy bear goal, his 5th of the year which made it 1-0. The Pats added two more in the first, one in the second and four in the third. Nick Henry scored twice and had two assists and Connor Hobbs also scored two and added one helper. Tyler Brown stopped 26 of 27 shots for his 14th victory. The win improved the Pats record to 21-2-5-0 on the year.
Divisional Success
By virtue of their 8-1 win over Swift Current last night. The Pats hold a 7-0-1-0 record against East Division opponents entering Saturday night. The Pats are 2-0-1-0 against Prince Albert, 2-0-0-0 against Swift Current and 1-0-0-0 against Moose Jaw, Saskatoon and Brandon. The Pats have outscored their division opponents 52-24 and outshot them 352-217 in the eight contests. The Pats powerplay is 16 for 40 (40%) and the penalty kill is 28 for 37 (75.7%). Regina leads the division with 47 points in 28 games, eight points ahead of Moose Jaw, 11 ahead of Swift Current, 17 on Brandon, 23 ahead of Saskatoon and 34 points clear of the Prince Albert Raiders.
Career Year
Pats 20-year-old forward from Saskatoon Dawson Leedahl set a new career high in points on Friday night against Swift Current. Leedahl scored twice and added three assists to hit 37 points on the year, four more than his previous career high off 33 which he set in 2014/15 with the Everett Silvertips. Those 33 points were tallied in 52 games. This year Leedahl has 37 in 28 games to start the season. He is currently riding a five game point streak (5G, 6A) and is tied for 14th in league scoring.
Two On Top
Pats forwards Sam Steel and Adam Brooks enter Saturday, tied at the top in WHL scoring with 48 points. Steel had two assists on Friday while Brooks had one to bring the teammates even for the season. Brooks has points in all 22 games he's played this year (14G, 34A) while Steel leads the team with 21 goals and has been kept of the score sheet just three times. Steel has played one more game than Brooks to this point in the year (23).
