Patriots Re-Sign Infielder Teuris Olivares

Bridgewater, NJ - The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the re-signing of infielder Teuris Olivares.

Olivares hit .300 with 79 runs scored, 125 hits, 20 doubles, three triples, ten home runs, 56 RBI, and 15 stolen bases in 109 games for Somerset during the 2007 season.

Olivares spent the 2006 season with the Road Warriors, where he had a .282 batting average, 62 runs scored, 117 hits, 25 doubles, two triples, 15 home runs, 52 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 107 games played.

Prior to joining the Road Warriors, Olivares spent the 2005 season with the Newark Bears. In 2005, Olivares had a .302 batting average, 32 hits, three doubles, a triple, four home runs, and 18 RBI in 30 games played.

Olivares has experience in the New York Yankees organization, including a season in Triple-A and four seasons of Double-A experience. During his time in the Yankees minor league system, Olivares was on four championship teams.

He has a minor league career .262 batting average with 509 runs, 867 hits, 149 doubles, 33 triples, 69 home runs, 396 RBI, and 101 stolen bases in 915 games played.

"We are happy to bring Teuris back for the 2008 season. He proved to be one of the best all-around infielders in the league last year and we feel that he will continue that this season," said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
