Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Michael Parks, the Mallards announced today.

Injury limited Parks, 24, to three games- and one assist- as a rookie with the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season.

Parks' last full season was the 2014-15 campaign, during which the 5' 11", 188-pound St. Louis native scored 12 goals and added 20 assists for 32 points in 42 games as a senior at the University of North Dakota.

"Michael is a kid we were trying to get all summer long. He put up some good numbers for North Dakota which is pretty impressive because North Dakota has some really good players," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski. "We were fortunate to get him- it helped that he knew some of the guys on our team. He can skate and score and is also a character kid, a real nice kid off the ice who wants to go up to a higher level. That kind of a player is a breeze to coach."

Over the course of his college career Parks helped North Dakota to four straight NCAA tournament berths, back-to-back Frozen Four appearances in 2014 and 2015, the 2011-12 Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament title and the 2014-15 National Collegiate Hockey Conference regular season crown.

Parks, who served as an assistant captain each of his final two years at UND, was named to the All-NCHC Second Team as a junior in 2013-14 after producing 12 goals, 18 assists and 30 points in 42 games. In total, he recorded 43 goals, 49 assists and 92 points in 151 career collegiate games.

Parks previously played alongside Mallard teammates Sam Warning and Justin Kovacs in the junior ranks with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League in 2009-10 and 2010-11.

The Mallards will open their twentieth season in the Quad Cities on Friday, October 14 at 7:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets at the iWireless Center. Mallards 2016-17 season tickets are now available. Season ticket holders enjoy significant savings on the walk-up ticket price and receive a host of exclusive benefits.
