P-Bruins Force Overtime But Ultimately Fall to Falcons

Providence Bruins News Release
PROVIDENCE, RI - Providence was able to come back from a 4-2 deficit after the second period, but the Springfield Falcons were able to capitalize during the 3v3 overtime period to keep the P-Bruins from sweeping the home-and-home series.
The Falcons got rolling early, scoring their first goal just 1:03 into the game when Greg Carey deflected a shot from the bullion. Steve Downie scored the Falcons' second when he managed to slip in his own rebound from a nearly impossible angle. Carey notched his second of the night with 1:20 left to play.
Colton Hargrove put the P-Bruins on the board with just 0:40 left on the clock in the first period. Anton Blidh fired off a big slap shot from the right point Hargrove fought for real estate in front of the net to knock the rebound home.
Hargrove struck again early in the second when Colby Cave found him on the right wing and sniped the top left corner. The score remained 3-2 until Grant buried the puck and brought the Falcons' lead back to two goals.
Zane McIntyre came up big and denied Selleck of a breakaway goal with 0:10 left in the second period.
Providence struck twice in the third period to tie the game 4-4 and force over time. Seth Griffith found the back of the net when Noel Acciari disrupted play behind the net and dished the puck to Griffith who roofed it over Langhmaer. This was Griffith's 13th goal of the season. Ben Youds scored the equalizer with 8 minutes to play in regulation when his powerful slap shot from the point found twine.
The P-Bruins started the overtime period on a 4v3 advantage due to a Falcons cross-checking minor at the end of regulation. But it was Philip Samuelsson who netted the game winner 2:42 into the overtime period.
The P-Bruins are back home tomorrow Sunday January 24th against the WBS Penguins.
