Ogden Raptors News Release
OREM - There were plenty of fireworks late in Orem Friday. Franklin Torres' bases-loaded single to deep center in the home ninth scored Jordan Zimmerman to give the Owlz a 7-6 walk-off win over visiting Ogden.
Postgame pyrotechnics then entertained the crowd at Brent Brown Ballpark in the Owlz' home opener. Orem (4-3) dropped the Raptors to 1-6.
Ogden battled back from a 5-1 hole via a five-run 5th inning, highlighted by Brock Carpenter's 3-RBI triple. The Raptors took a 6-5 lead into the 7th inning before Matt Thaiss' solo shot tied the game.
Corey Copping (0-1) took the loss while Greg Belton (1-0) nabbed the win. The clubs meet again Saturday night in Orem for the second of four straight games, the latter two in Ogden.
