Otters Lose Series against Freedom

Evansville Otters News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN - The Evansville Otters were narrowly defeated by a score of 7-5 at Bosse Field on Sunday night.
Evansville would score first following a throwing error with a runner at second base. Florence would muster only one hit through the first two innings until a nightmare of an inning for the Otters occurred in the third that consisted of four hits, an error, and a wild pitch, which allowed four runs to score. The game appeared fairly uneventful, with both teams having trouble manufacturing hits, until the Otters were able to explode for five hits in the sixth to tie and eventually take a 5-4 lead. The offensive outburst within the inning was highlighted by four consecutive hits before a single out was even recorded. Drama would unfold in the eighth with the Otters clinging on to a 5-4 lead. Evansville relief pitcher, Brody Greer, would walk the first of three hitters he faced to start the inning. This led to a pivotal moment in the contest when Freedom's Austin Newell delivered a bases clearing double that deflated the Otters' aspirations for victory. Evansville will look to gain momentum on the road as the team next plays a doubleheader against the River City Rascals on Wednesday.
The Otters return home on May 31st for a three game home stand versus Joliet. Tickets are on sale and may be obtained by calling (812) 435-8686.
