Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, MONT. - The Missoula Osprey (32-42) split a seven-inning doubleheader on Wednesday night, falling 1-0 to Great Falls in game one before rebounding to record a 9-3 victory over The Voyagers (47-27) in game two. The victory over Great Falls snapped a 15-game win streak for the Voyagers.

Game one proved to be a pitcher's duel, as right-hander Chris Comito dealt a 7.0 inning shutout while striking out 13. Missoula managed just two hits, with both going to Tanner Hill. Comito, who moved to 8-1 with the win, outdueled right-hander Alex Gouin. Gouin, who fell to 2-6 with the loss, also tossed a complete game, allowing an RBI-single to Mitch Roman in the third that proved to be the game-winner.

Missoula managed to put the tying run at third with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh, but Comito struck out the next three in order to record the victory.

Entering game two having failed to score a run in 20 straight innings, Missoula wasted no time getting on the board in the nightcap as Jasrado Chisholm launched his ninth homer of the year to lead off the first.

Another homer, this one a three-run shot from Kyle Smith, highlighted a six-run second inning, as Missoula extended the lead to 7-0 after two frames. The O's would tack on two more in the third, handing starter Palmer Betts a 9-0 lead after three.

The nine-run cushion proved plenty enough for Betts on the night, as the righty tossed a complete game, allowing just three runs on five hits with four strikeouts to improve to 3-2 on the season.

Pedro Marquez and Bryan Araiza each finished with two hits in the game-two victory.

Including the two on Wednesday night, Missoula's starters have now thrown three straight complete games.

Missoula will finish the 2016 season on Thursday when it hosts Great Falls at 7:05 p.m.
