Ontario Fury News Release

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, are proud to announce that Professional Arena Soccer League veteran Majell Aterado has been signed to a contract for the 2013-14. Per club policy, terms of the agreement will not be released.

A midfielder, Aterado spent the last three seasons as a member of the San Diego Sockers organization, and had previously played for the California (Stockton) Cougars under Fury head coach Bernie Lilavois, who signed Aterado to his first pro contract in 2009 with the Cougars. Aterado has won at every level he has played at, including being part of four PASL championship teams in his career - including the 2009 PASL title in Stockton.

"I'm proud to have Majell as our first official signee for the Fury's inaugural season," said Lilavois, who also serves as the Fury's president. "Majell's experience in the indoor game and his history of winning championships should be a great asset to our team in our first season."

Aterado, a native of the Philippines who grew up in Hawaii, spent two years at Santa Rosa Junior College, where he was a two-time junior college All-Anerican and helped Santa Rosa to a state championship. He finished his college career at the University of West Florida.

Aterado has scored 49 goals in 56 games over four seasons in the PASL, notching 41 assists in the same time frame. He missed the 2012-13 season due to a knee injury. With the injury healed, Aterado has plans on coming back strong for the 2013-14 season.

"For me, personally, just a lot of hard work and determination to win and help my teammates to win," he said when asked about what fans should expect from him on the field. "Just a lot of exciting soccer."

Aterado is the first player being announced by the Fury this week, with more player signings set for the coming days. As well, the Fury will be releasing video interviews conducted by "Voice of the Inland Empire" Ron Stark with local members of the Fury's Reserve Squad.

The Ontario Fury will play its inaugural game Oct. 26 against Toros Mexico at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Tickets are available at the box office, and groups of 10 or more can get information on discounted tickets by calling 909-240-5242 or by emailing info@ontariofury.com.
