Omar Vizquel to Manage Bees

Burlington, IA - Former Major League great, Omar Vizquel, will be a fill-in manager for the Burlington Bees during the June 20-23 home stand at Community Field, it was announced today. Manager, Jamie Burke, will be on leave to visit his family in Oregon and will return to his regular duties when the Bees travel to Cedar Rapids on June 25.

Considered one of the greatest fielding shortstops of all time, Vizquel was hired by the Angels this past off-season as an infield roving instructor. He played for six different teams in his amazing 24-year Major League career which ended just last year. Vizquel was an 11-time Gold Glove winner and 3-time All-Star selection. He finished his career with 2,877 hits, which ranks 40th all-time. His 2,968 games played ranks 12th all-time.
