November 13, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) - San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The SaberCats announced today that they have been assigned two players; former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Wayne Tribue, and former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Andre Freeman, both on one-year contracts. The Arena Football League's open free agency period opened on Monday Nov. 5.

"Continuing to add top-level talent to our football team is important for this upcoming season," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "Wayne and Andre each bring something unique to San Jose and we are excited to add them to our squad."

Tribue (6-4, 330, Temple) spent training camp and preseason with the Denver Broncos. The York, Pennsylvania native played four seasons at Temple and appeared in 49 games (33 starts) for the Owls both along the offensive line and on special teams. He was named to the All Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC) Third Team in his senior season (2011) and earned the team's Offensive Most Valuable Player honors as a sophomore. Off the field, Tribue was also a recipient of the 2012 Temple Teammates Community Service Award.

Freeman (5-11, 190, Slippery Rock) spent the 2012 preseason as a member of the Pitsburgh Steelers. The Pittsburgh native attended Slippery Rock University and spent the final three seasons of his collegiate career there following a transfer from Hofstra University. He started 27 games at SRU, earning All-PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) honors as a junior in 2011. The 5'11" defensive back totaled 134 tackles with a pair of interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks on special teams.
