Oklahoma City's Anton Lander Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

April 1, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Oklahoma City Barons center Anton Lander has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 31, 2013.

Lander racked up eight points and a plus-6 rating in three games last week, including a record-setting performance on Saturday night.

Entering the week with 11 points in 42 AHL games this season, Lander scored a goal on Wednesday night in Oklahoma City's 3-2 shootout loss at Chicago. He notched an assist on Friday to help the Barons to a 4-2 win at Peoria, then had a career night on Saturday in Rockford. Lander posted his first hat trick as a professional and also added three assists, setting both a franchise record and an AHL season for points in a game (six) as Oklahoma City defeated the IceHogs, 7-3.

Lander was then recalled by the parent Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, his second NHL promotion of the season.

A 21-year-old native of Sundsvall, Sweden, Lander was a second-round draft choice by Edmonton (40th overall) in 2009. He has totaled eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 45 games with Oklahoma City this season, along with one assist in four contests with the Oilers. Last season, in his first campaign in North America, Lander registered six points in 56 NHL games for Edmonton and contributed five points in 14 regular-season games plus four points in 14 postseason contests for the Barons.

In recognition of his achievement, Lander will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Barons home game.
