OKC RedHawks Game Notes

June 4, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release

TONIGHT: The RedHawks wrap up a 4-game homestand with a series finale against the Memphis Redbirds. OKC rallied from a 6th-inning, 9-0 deficit to win 10-9 last night on a 3-run homer by Esteban German. The win snapped OKC's 3-game losing streak and 6-game skid at home. OKC leads the American South by 1.5 games over Albuquerque. Memphis is third, 2 games back of Nashville in the American North. Lefty Michael Ballard gets the start for OKC against Memphis righthander Brandon Dickson.

LAST NIGHT'S HISTORIC COMEBACK: The RedHawks' rally from a 9-0 deficit in the sixth inning last night is the biggest comeback in club history since being re-named the RedHawks with the move to AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in 1998 (thanks to OKCRedHawks.com beat writer Bob Hersom for research on the franchise's largest comebacks).

2010 COMEBACKS: Prior to last night, the biggest margin the RedHawks had overcome in a victory this season was 3 runs on 3 occasions. On April 22 at Nashville, the Sounds led 3-0 after 3 innings in an eventual 7-4 OKC win. On April 24, Memphis took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh before the RedHawks rallied. OKC held on to win 8-7. On May 21 at Portland, the Beavers brought a 3-0 lead into the fourth inning before the RedHawks rallied for 4 runs in consecutive innings in a 9-3 win. Last night's win was the RedHawks' first of the year when trailing after the seventh or eighth innings. OKC's record is now 1-20 when trailing after 7 and 1-19 when behind after 8.

GAME WINNERS: OKC has 1 walk-off homer in each of the last 4 seasons, counting 2010. Here are the most recent walk-off homers:

OTHER THURSDAY TIDBITS:

- OKC is the only team in the PCL to have not allowed double-digit runs in a game this season. Last night matched the most runs allowed by OKC this year (9), and set a high for earned runs in a game (8).

- The 4-run second inning by Memphis last night matched the second-biggest inning against OKC this year and was the highest-scoring opponents' frame since Memphis tallied a season-high 6 against the RedHawks in the sixth inning April 27.

- The 10 runs by OKC surpass its total output (9) during the 6-game home losing streak that was halted.

- The 3-hour, 30-minute game time was OKC's longest 9-inning game of the year by 1 minute over May 21 at Portland, a game that was slowed by numerous breaks to treat a wet field.

PETIT EXTENDS ON-BASE RUN: Gregorio Petit extended his on-base streak to 16 games. Among RedHawks, it's the best active on-base streak. Esteban German had an 18-game on-base streak earlier this season.

BULLPEN UPDATE: In the past 18 games, OKC's bullpen has worked 65 innings, allowing 12 earned runs (1.66 ERA) on 39 hits while going 4-1.

PITCHING NO. 1: OKC leads the PCL in team ERA at 3.43. Nashville has the second-best mark at 3.48. The RedHawks have allowed the fewest home runs (28) in the league. Fresno is closest with 35 home runs surrendered. OKC has allowed the fewest earned runs (179) and has the second-most strikeouts (394) behind Sacramento's 420.

ODDS AND ENDS: Esteban German is second in the league lead with 40 runs scored and 20 stolen bases...Sacramento's Corey Wimberley has 22 steals...German is tied for fifth in the PCL in walks with 31.
