Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Dodgers are partnering with TerraScapes this season to "Grow the Game" and benefit Cleats for Kids by accepting donations of new and gently used sports equipment at home games beginning Friday against the Round Rock Express at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Fans can donate sports equipment at designated drop-off bins located at each of Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark's three main gates starting Friday through Tuesday, Aug. 1.
The equipment will be donated to Cleats for Kids, a local non-profit organization that collects and distributes sports equipment, clothes and shoes to youth in need.
"The generous donations of our fans will allow Cleats for Kids to help children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in sports," OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "The benefits of youth sports participation are numerous, from building confidence and discipline, to promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging children to stay in school. We are proud to partner with TerraScapes to help 'Grow the Game' and benefit Cleats for Kids."
Individuals who donate sports equipment this season will have the opportunity to register to win a baseball weekend trip for four to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers play two road games against the Washington Nationals Sept. 16-17 in Washington D.C. Tickets, flights and hotel accommodations will be included in the prize pack. The winner will be selected Aug. 11 and will be notified by an OKC Dodgers employee by phone.
To kick off the equipment drive, Jason Klontz, president of TerraScapes will be recognized on the field and throw out the first pitch prior to Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Express.
The Dodgers open a seven-game homestand Friday and fireworks are scheduled to follow the game. The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's 6:05 p.m. game falls on a Chaparral Energy Family Sunday filled with family-oriented activities, including pregame player autographs and kids can run the bases after the game.
The homestand continues with a four-game series against the Omaha Storm Chasers starting at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 13. A Field Trip Day game follows at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 14.
Thursday, June 15's 7:05 p.m. game against Omaha falls on a $2 Thursday, featuring $2 soda, water and beer from a line of Pepsi and Budweiser products. Fireworks are scheduled to follow the homestand finale that starts at 7:05 p.m. Friday, June 16 against Omaha.
