Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release

Papillion, Neb.- The Oklahoma City Dodgers broke open a scoreless tie with eight runs between the seventh and eighth innings, leading the way to an 8-5 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Friday night at Werner Park.

The Dodgers (78-60) have won three straight games, as well as six of their last seven contests. With Friday's victory, they matched their high water mark of the season at 18 games above .500.

The game was a pitcher's duel through six innings, with both team's starting pitchers silencing the opposition. The Dodgers and Storm Chasers (58-79) combined for just five hits over the first six frames, with neither team putting a runner in scoring position between the second and sixth innings.

Corey Brown changed the tenor of the game with one swing leading off the seventh inning. He belted his team-leading 22nd home run of the season out to right field, and his solo blast gave OKC a 1-0 lead.

The Dodgers proceeded to pile up five more runs and six more hits in the seventh. Shawn Zarraga and Will Venable hit back-to-back doubles to make it 2-0. Brandon Hicks and Tyler Ogle then each followed with a RBI single, doubling the lead to 4-0.

O'Koyea Dickson finished the rally with a two-run triple off the center field fence, giving OKC a 6-0 advantage. Dickson finished the game 3-for-5, falling a home run shy of the cycle. He's now collected five straight multi-hit games.

The Dodgers rallied for two more runs after having the bases empty with two outs in the eighth inning. After Venable drew a walk, Jordan Schafer and Ogle followed with back-to-back RBI doubles.

Between the seventh and eighth innings, the Dodgers tallied eight runs and 10 hits, including six for extra bases.

Like the Dodgers, the Storm Chasers were also able to rally against the opposing bullpen. Through seven innings, the Dodgers held Omaha to no runs and two hits, but that changed in the eighth inning. Omaha batted around and scored four runs on five hits. Christian Colon, Jorge Bonifacio, and Irving Falu each drove in runs, suddenly cutting the Dodgers' lead to 8-4.

With the tying run on deck and one out, the Dodgers summoned Ralston Cash from the bullpen. Cash retired the next two batters, keeping the Dodgers ahead by four runs heading to the ninth.

The Storm Chasers added another run in their final at-bat. After the first two batters were retired, Brandon Downes kept the game alive with a double. Ramon Torres then sent a grounder to third base, but Alex Hassan committed an error, allowing Downes to score. Cash then coaxed a pop out by Colon to end the game, as Cash picked up his first save with OKC.

Dodgers starting pitcher Lisalverto Bonilla picked up his second win in as many starts, throwing six scoreless innings. After giving up two consecutive singles with one out in the first inning, Bonilla (4-5) did not allow a hit for the remainder of his outing. He retired 17 of the final 19 batters he faced. Of the two batters he did not retire during that stretch, he walked one and the other reached on an error. Bonilla finished with six strikeouts.

Omaha starter Alec Mills matched zeroes with Bonilla over six innings. After three straight batters reached base with two outs in the first inning, Mills proceeded to retire 15 of the final 16 batters he faced, including the last 11 in a row. He finished with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Rehabbing Kansas City Royals pitcher Kris Medlen took over for Mills in the seventh and ended up with the loss. He was charged with four runs and four hits over one-third of an inning.

The Dodgers next meet the Storm Chasers at 2:05 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Live coverage begins 15 minutes before the scheduled first pitch on AM 1340 "The Game," 1340thegame.com, or through the free iHeartRadio mobile app.
